Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. Nicole Ari Parker is an American actor in stage and films. Her most notable role was that of Teri her passionate lawyer Teri Jospehson on the Showtime show Soul Food. The actress is known under her husband's name, Nikki Kodjoe. As a child in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always fascinated by acting. At the Maryland high school contest at the beginning of her education she received the award for the best actress. Her career in acting started after she worked in the Washington Ballet Company and theater. Born to Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria up to 7 years old, Contractor was well-versed in traveling around the globe and in a wide range of civilizations at an extremely young age. At the age of seven through nine, she went to boarding school in London. The family later relocated to Toronto and she resided there for most of her childhood. Contractor was a successful academic in Toronto and also trained as the ballerina. She was a part of the audition for it during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and won. In 2002, Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 productions of the play. The conservatory in Stratford accepts eight men with four females, along with a couple of additional people to take a 20 weeks of crash courses. The actor's involvement in the upcoming season's production was confirmed. She was cast in the role in Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
